A couple of points of interest. The interior light DOES come on whenever the door is open (not just while cooking), best part of that is if you leave the door open (for example to let steam escape), the light automatically goes out after a minute or so. There seemed to be a lot of complaints abt the control panel not being backlit and difficult to read/see; we have never even seen a panel that is backlit (guess we don't get out much), just the time/cooking display lights up and it is very visible. We are not that impressed w/the "sensor" cooking technology, which cooks based on the amt of steam coming from the item being cooked; it never seems to be quite enough time, so we just enter the desired amt of time vs. letting the m'wave figure it out (but this feature was NOT a must have, it was "just there"). While the "I'm done" beeper does continue to beep like every minute or so after it's done, that's kind of a neat feature in case you didn't hear the initial beep (for example, if you're outside flippin' steaks or in the basement folding clothes, you might not hear it, so a 2nd, or even 3rd chime is kind of nice). We weren't quite sure we'd like the stainless exterior (only the front is actually stainless, the top/sides are painted gray/silver), but it goes nicely w/the stainless fridge and yes... they both show fingerprints, but as grandparents, we've grown to appreciate those! Overall, we really like the m'wave and hope it lasts many, many years!

Worked good - while it lasted

We bought this microwave in December of 2013 for our new home but didn't start using it until March of 2014. At the end of January 2015, 11 months after we started using it, the unit quit working. The controls and everything work fine, it acts like it is working but it just won't heat anything. We contacted customer service and we were told, correctly, that it is out of warranty. I can't hold that against them. However, I am very disappointed in the quality of this product. It should not fail after less than a year of use. I will be replacing this microwave but it will not be with an LG. Experience says they produce poor quality products. Beware.

Still looks brand new.
Stopped heating 15 months in, warranty is 12 months.
Six casefiles, 12 downloads and 3 frustrating weeks later still no satisfaction from LG.
Funny, oven quit just out of warranty. HAHA on me.
Hope you dont have problems.

Great product for 2 yrs.

Too bad it malfunctioned just after two years. One evening, when I opened the microwave door, after heating a beverage, the microwave started running again. This wasn't a just a quirk as it continues to do so unless you unplug it first. Obviously I will have to replace it. LG hasn't been of any help since it's beyond the 1 yr. warranty period.

Died at 3 months

I've never had a microwave die on me but this p.o.s did. It appears that the circuit board went out. LG's warranty is a joke. They want me to buy another LG AND then they will reimburse me for the original unit. Why would I buy another one? Good thing I kept my 7 year old Sharp....

Can you see it now??

I purchased this microwave when my 12 yr. old Sharp died on me. I looked for a Sharp, but only model store had was bigger than I wanted.
I decided on the LG...perfect size and the price was not bad. The microwave has worked like a charm since we got it last week....my only complaint is like the other reviewers.....the touch pad is very deceiving from the picture on the box to real life! The light gray print on the control panel is very hard to see. I considered the white model and it may have been a better choice, but wanted black. I did consider returning it and getting the white one, but I just didn't want to hassle with boxing it up and taking it back. I used my Dymo label maker and made number labels that we can actually see!

This microwave did not work right out of the box. I did all of the trouble shooting things- none of which worked. I called customer service. They walked me through a few things, but ultimately said it was not working and to find a service center (on my own) as it was under warranty. Really? It's brand new and doesn't work. I don't think that constitutes a warranty repair- it warrants a refund. Either way I have to pack it up and schlepp it somewhere. Not what I signed on for.

Works well, but hard to see controls
Posted by: Rich1954 from: Lansing, MI on
When I got this home, I found that the control panel was very hard to read. It was almost like they were supposed to be lit from behind, but they weren't. I almost took it back, but it was too much trouble; so I am just living with it.

Lasted 1.5 years

I bought lg believing it has been a tried and tested brand but now realize I should have went to review sites and did more research. Many people have had this fail from 1 mth to 2 years. I have normally replaced a microwave because I would like more power, better cooking or more room inside. Out of 5 not 1 lasted less than 8 yrs except this 1. Really disappointed and will not Buy another lg. Curious enough we are in the market for new washer and dryer and I was positive I was going to buy lg, well that has since changed. We will be checking for other brands.

Unable to read labels by the push buttons.

We could not read the lablels by the push buttons without a bright light and maybe a magnifying glass. Design engineers should be concerned with practical usability rather than some estoteric criteria about how neat it looks.
