Great Dishwasher! As expected, it cleans dishes.
Posted by: TheBigIdea from: Jacksonville, FL on
I wanted a dishwasher with a 3rd rack, and it was between this and the BOSCH 500 series. The Bosch was ugly, and hidden controls is not an option with a black dishwasher, so I settled for this LG.
My original dishwasher came with my house... a whirlpool, "contractor special". My kitchen is next to my living room, so I would usually set s delay so I wouldn't have to listen to the dang thing while trying to watch TV. I thought it cleaned okay... but it did leave TONS of water spots all over my dishes. I thought that was life because of the hard NE Florida water.
I've had this LG for about 2 weeks now, and I really like it. I like the half-load option so I can just clean a few dishes on half load instead of waiting on having enough for a full load. The dishwasher is VERY quiet. You really don't hear it at all unless you use the "heavy" setting, and even then, it's still very quiet. Dishes come out clean, and it's cleaning off the spots some of my dishes have had for years!
My old dishwasher had a food grinder, and a heating coil. This one has neither... so you have to make sure you wipe or rinse off really large food particles #like full strings of spaghetti#. It dries pretty well. Glass and porcelain and most metal comes out completely dry... a few plastic bowls might have a few drops of water, I usually just give a good shake when I take them out.
The dishwasher has tons of options for normal, heavy, light, delicate, half load, full load, heavy for half, light for the other half, high temperature, etc... My old dishwasher was "normal" every time... I do find myself using some of the other options with this dishwasher more often.
I installed this dishwasher myself. Installation is very easy, and leveling is very easy because there are screws in the front to level the back. The power box is easy to get to and hook up, as is the fresh water hookup. The drain line was a little shorter than my old dishwasher, but I made it work.
I was a little nervous because I did read some negative reviews after I ordered this dishwasher... but all in all, I am happy with my purchase. I made a good choice. It's quiet, and gets dishes clean. Only slightly negative thing I can say is the top rack has no sprayer arm under it. It has water from the top, and the sprayer arm that washes the middle rack will reach the top rack UNLESS you have very large items on the middle rack. This isn't a problem if you just have smaller items like drinking glasses and whatnot, but if you have several large pots on the middle rack, and have large spoons facing down on the top shelf, it may not clean them will.
This is not an issue if you just have flatware on the top shelf because the top arm will clean those items fine regardless of whats on the middle shelf.

Quiet and efficient

I purchased this dishwasher because it received an excellent rating in Consumer Reports. It was also one of three brands that would fit in the allocated space. My only concern was that the dishes might not be entirely dry because it does not have the heating coil. However, I pushed the extra drying time button, and my dishes were sparkling clean and dry.
I particularly like the silverware holder as it has individual slots, and can be lifted out easily. Also, the 3rd tier rack is handy.
This LG dishwasher is extremely quiet. If it were not for the flashing blue light indicating that the dishwasher is running, I would not know it. Also, at the end, a little musical tune plays ....cute!

Very quite operating unit
Posted by: OneBestPrice from: on
This has been the most quietest operating dishwasher I have owned. Very happy w/ the performance in washing. As previous posts note the rack tines do fall easy. I'm not very happy about how sensitive it is w/ food particles. The unit has had multiple error code "OE" which is drainage issues. The manual states to clear the filter. When I did view the filter it was clear of particles. The issue is w/ the detergent gel packets. They've a hard time breaking down before the water discharge and I think it lodges up in the drain area some where. After soaking over night the unit will drain.

Great till it wasn't

Bought this in Jan of 2015. Was initially impressed by how quiet this dishwasher was. In the past month it has started to make a high pitched sound. I reached out to LG for support. They have lead me through a giant goose chase in what I believe is an effort to not provide warranty support. I've had to clean the mineral deposits (that didn't make any difference#, I've been told to call a plumber because my inlet pressure was too high #when the noise has nothing to do with a filling operation#. Now I'm in a rinse and repeat cycle of calling trying to get a technician out to look at the unit and there's always an excuse. If you look online this seems to be a common issue with LG dishwashers #and some chopper mechanism). Highly annoying. I'm not going to be purchasing any more LG appliances. What happened to customer service?

Very Very Quiet...Love It!

Amazed at how efficient and quiet this dishwasher is...While the cycles are longer than what I am used to, for me it doesn't matter to me as the end results are well worth it! Many folks say that it does not dry well - if you add the extra dry cycle and the hot rinse options (since there is no heating element), all of my dishes come out completely dry and squeaky clean. The only way you know it is doing its job is by the blue blinking LED on the upper right top (which I do not find annoying). The racks are extremely flexible and work very well for me. One of the best features is the third rack that holds all the small items that would not work in our old dishwasher. The ability to be able to wash half a dishwasher load on either the top or bottom rack is another good option for me. The one requirement for me was the ability to be able to rinse dishes and then be able to wash a load later. This is one of the few that still will do that. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase and next time I am in the market for any kitchen or laundry appliance, I will checkout LG first.

Good, but could be better
Posted by: JohnCustomer from: on
We basically really like the new dishwasher. Rack configuration works well. It is funny how you get used to loading a dishwasher. Then you get a new one and you have to learn how to load that one.
The third rack is very nice, we like that feature the best.
Here are the negatives: The middle rack does not shut completely and we have to push the slide rails in by hand to get the door closed. A warranty item I assume. Second item? The normal washing cycle is 2 hours and 19 minutes. Really? That is just way too long. Ridiculous actually. If they told me that in the store I would have looked at another model.
Overall it does a great job.

Excellent dishwasher. Looks great and cleans very well. My only complaint is that the vent at the bottom builds up moisture on the kitchen floor.

I am so happy with this dishwasher. I read the reviews and noted the most common concern was that the dishes did not get dry. Honestly, if you put something in the dishwasher with a concave top, or lip, of course you will need to wipe it with a towel. But, I have not had any issues with drying. The dishes come out shiny and clean. The machine is so quiet you don't even know it is running. No odor at all. I honestly can['t find a thing to complain about. Love it!!!

THE WORST! Poor engineering = Repeat Failures
Posted by: dMick from: on
We've owned this unit for nearly 3 years and we just ordered a new dishwasher due to repeat failures.
- First, the control panels shorted out just after 1-year P&L warranty, so the part was covered, but the $300 in labor/troubleshooting was not covered by warranty.
- Next the drain pump failed after 2-year P&L warranty had expired. Apparently this happens often with this unit. I was given some lame excuse about which detergent to use, so we switched and the replacement part failed within 2 weeks.
- Thankfully the replacement part was warrantied for 90 days and parts & labor were covered here.
- Just last week, after nearly owning this unit for 3 years, the DRAIN PUMP FAILED AGAIN! I refused to pay another $150 in parts and labor to get this poorly engineered unit fixed.
As others have said, your dishes have to be nearly spotless when you use this "washer" to essentially just rinse your dishes. Because of all the failures, I made sure my dishes were pretty clean going in, but the drain pump failed again and I'm done. We bought a cheap Kenmore to replace this machine.
We have other LG appliances, which are great, but this unit is the worst. The Best Buy sales reps even told my neighbor to avoid LG Dishwasher because they can't make a decent dishwashing appliance. But Best Buy personnel did speak highly of their other appliance offerings.

This is a great dishwasher. I love it. Beautiful to look at and so quiet I double check to see if it is running. While it is not entirely intuitive to load and I have had to try a few different configurations, it still holds a lot and the dishes come out really clean.
Two important things to know: 1) if you want your dishes all the way dry you will need to run the extra dry cycle and that means you will lose some energy efficiency; and 2) expect a load of dishes to take a few hours to run. For me this last one was a surprise but not a deal breaker. I just now do my dishes at night and we wake up to a clean load.
