This NETGEAR 200 Series GS205100PAS Gigabit switch features auto negotiation for automatic connection at the highest common speed between the switch and an end device. Five ports offer plenty of connection options for home and small offices.

Simple Upgrade Value

At the recommendation of two Information Technology professionals (and friends) who have made site visits to my home - this was enough "switch" for my intended use - simply to add Ethernet connections and distribute internet service in a room with only one Ethernet port. Simple to install and hide small unit and now enjoying fast and reliable connection to Sony Smart TV, TiVo , TiVo Stream and Sonos speaker - all offer wifi, but wired is best.

Works for less

It's a 5 port name brand gigabit switch for fair price. Other switches are more expensive which doesn't seem worth it. Connected speed shows gigabit and connection tested good so far (about 2 weeks). The color is white but I prefer black or silver, but it's out of sight behind some things on the desk so not a big deal. It's replacing a 100Mb D-Link switch that went bad after a year or two (not a long time!) in service (and which I got for around the same price as this netgear one). So I will see how the more popular name brand does against it.

This switch is fast and efficient. If you need an unmanaged network switch this is a great deal.

Plug N Play

Very easy to install. I wanted to expand my port capacity and this worked great and was very inexpensive. Make sure to compare, this is a gigabit switch!

My old switch started acting up so I replaced it with a t-base 10 I had laying around. That is a slow LAN connection so this one is to replace my t-base 10 switch.

It Just Works

Plugged it in; plugged in some devices; and everything worked with zero hassle. I used it to split a digital TV signal from the internet signal. I sent the internet signal to my router and the TV signal to the TV and everything works great.

Inexpensive and practical may lower network speed

An inexpensive and practical device for increasing the number of ethernet connections. However it might have slowed down the network speed somewhat even without adding more devices to the network.
