Q: How many photos will the 16 GB flash drive hold and can I use it in my HP computer
A: It depends on the quality of your photos, but it is a good amount of photos from say your standard camera or phone its about 10,000.
Q: Approximately how many minutes of music can be stored using this flash drive?
A: Hi Melvin, I can't give you an exact duration for music play. I can tell you this, I put about 3200 tunes on 12.9 GB of the 16GB capacity. It would probably get you across the Pacific without hearing the same tune twice.
Q: Is the part inserted into the USB port metal? Some PNY drives are all plastic.
A: It is metal. And the metal connector can be retracted back into the plastic body.
Q: This is rated at 3.0 but my older computer is only 1.0.....will this work in my computer ?
A: USB 3.0 is backward compatible with both USB 2.0 and 1.0 however the peak transfer rate will not exceed the USB 2.0 or USB 1.0 speeds.
A: I ran several test using the dd command on a Fedora system and got a consistent 98 MB/sec. (1024x1024) write speed transferring 128 MB of data.
