    Patty Griffin had me with her second albumn, Flaming Red, and I wanted another rock albumn from her because good music was rock to me. Later efforts, like these have chiseled away my bias and today I have complete faith that no matter what kind of albumn she makes, it will be the one I love most the year it is released. Art for me, is redefined in music with every new effort she embarks on.

    Patti Griffith's lyrics have always been strong, but they might be the strongest ever on this one. The variety of the musical influences here, in her (almost) post-Buddy Miller period, are also outstanding, and lend greater oomph to the recording. To be honest, I'm still listening and finding stuff in here I like. It grows, and that's good.
