It is the album that single handedly made him arguably the greatest Dominican singer, and made him into a worldwide phenomenon. Before this CD, merengue was heard only in Carribbean islands and Central America, however after Bachata Rosa, lands as far away as Japan and Russia were playing his tracks in dance clubs. All of the songs on this CD are memorable and bring out the best in merengue. the lyrics to some of his songs on this CD are extremely deep and romantic. It's a shame that english speaking folks could not understand how profound and poetic his lyrics are in this CD. Powerful is a good way to describe it. This CD is the essential CD in any tropical CD collection (Merengue/Salsa/Bachata). Do yourself and everyone around you a favor and make sure this CD is a part of your collection!
