Worst Purchase Ever!
Posted by: Sportsmom101 from: Petaluma, CA on
I bought this dishwasher 1 year and 20 days ago, the purchasing process was awful at best, the installation was worse and the service after the product was installed has been nothing short of hellish.
The day it was installed the water line was broken, the installer could have fixed it but Samsung needed to send their own guy out. Wait two weeks for a part I could have purchased at Best Buy, not off to a good start. Samsung comes out and installs it and does not test. Run a load of dishes, it does not clean. call for service, get ignored for weeks.
Finally get a technician out in October, for the smell and non cleaning. He came out, the spinners were not connected and it was full of sludge. He told me I had rust, well, my previous dishwasher did not have this issue. reconnect the spinners, remove sludge, smell persist. Call for service, get ignored. (meanwhile I am hand washing my dishes and using paper plates)
Finally after months of calling get support, oh and the ignoring pushed me out of warranty, I get someone to look at the file file and they send technicians out. These poor guys have come out 8 times, ordered every part you can think of, it still leaks so they can't test the issues.
I don't think this saga will ever end.

Warranty doesn't include replacement!!!
Posted by: MZ2014 from: Los Angeles, CA on
Purchased this unit brand new in Oct. 2013 and less than 6 months later it wasn't working properly (not completing the wash cycles, drainage issues, etc...). I called Samsung who arranged for a local service company to come and repair the unit. Over the course of two months the company has been out 4 separate times and it's still not working. Each time, they give you a 5 hour window where you need to be available, as is standard for these types of repair visits.
Service Quick failed to fix the unit on any of the visits, stating that a different part needed to be ordered. Each time a new part would be ordered it would take at least one week to arrive, at which time we would schedule another appt. for installation, and each time, the techs (all different) would have another excuse why this couldn't be fixed. One even told us we had to tear out our cabinets so he could "see the unit"!! This is of course an excessive amount of service visits, so I kept Samsung Executive Customer Relations Dept. updated each step of the way. At the final service appt. when I was told yet again that a part needed to be ordered (min. 2 week lag time for it as well), I called Samsung and requested a replacement unit. If their Samsung trained Service/ Repair techs were unable to fix it after 4 visits, why would I be stupid enough to schedule a 5th and waste my time again?
Certainly this is a logical case for a replacement! I would call Samsung ECR daily for an answer or status update, since not one representative was able to give me an accurate estimate on when they would have a resolution for us. After nearly 2 weeks of faxing in copies of all our service reports to different departments, I was able to get someone to tell me our case for replacement was denied since only one company had made an attempt to fix it!! I have a job, and can't sit around the house for weeks so that Samsung can send every Tom, Dick and Harry into my home to fix my lemon unit. I'm sure other consumers in the same situation would feel just as frustrated by Samsung's "process" with this!
When I demanded I was escalated to a senior dept., I was told that Executive Customer Relations was as high as these cases go, and there is no one else we would appeal to. We are now stuck with a non-working dishwasher we spent more than $700 on less than one year ago, that Samsung won't replace because apparently "Nowhere in the product warranty are you guaranteed a replacement unit if the service attempts fail."
BEFORE YOU BUY THIS PRODUCT, THINK TWICE ABOUT WHAT A "SERVICE ONLY" WARRANTY ACTUALLY GETS YOU.

OK Appliance Until a Repair Is Needed
Posted by: Missy from: on
The dishwasher performed adequately--not perfectly--until it started leaking after 20 months of use. So far, even with a Geek Squad Protection plan, we still don't have it repaired after five weeks of trying. Twice the part needed--the entire inner front door assembly--has arrived damaged. We believe that the part was packed and wrapped by the manufacturer, Samsung, which so far has ignored our requests for special packaging to protect the part. After all the work that we put into our kitchen, it is dejecting to have our dishwasher wearing a diaper and demoralizing that the GSP plan has failed to fix our appliance. We would not consider purchasing another Samsung appliance until they turn around their track record.

Warning: DO NOT BUY...
Posted by: TimBB90210 from: midland, mi on
Save yourself money, time, and hours of frustration: DO NOT BUY this piece of junk. Within 3 months the drying function stopped working and the soap dispenser doesn't always open. The repairman couldn't fix the problems and when I reported this to Samsung I was given the runaround. Long story short, I have a new (3 month old) Samsung dishwasher that doesn't dry my dishes and sometimes doesn't even wash my dishes and Samsung isunwilling to stand by their product. DO NOT BUY---DO NOT BUY---DO NOT BUY---DO NOT BUY

great dishwasher for the price

The things I like
Lots of space -when the salesperson was showing me this in the store she took a bottom rack from a competitors machine and placed it inside the Samsung and there was about 3" of depth more than the competitors
Gets dishes clean ( make sure you use a rinse agent)
I just rinse dishes with food, dishes with dried food I just put in the dishwasher
Very quiet, after they installed the dishwasher I was putting the pullouts back in the sink cabinet and I could barely hear it running sitting right next to it, the only time I hear it is when it is draining.
I can load large items top and bottom - I put the top to my Ninja blender in the top rack (12" tall).
What could be improved
The bottom rack fits a little loose so when you slide it out its possible that you need to adjust it when sliding back in
The re-positionable top rack is not as simple as the more expensive models to adjust up ( you have to pull it out and then slide it back in) but its not an issue for me but might bother some people.
All in all it does a great job on cleaning the dishes with no where near as much "pre wash" as my older dishwasher.
Its very quiet, I have to look at the lights to see if its done. The price for the value is very good, dishwashers rated better by CR cost significantly more.
I would recommend this to a friend ( I think my brother may buy one)
Pros: Durable, very quiet, large interior for big loads, excellent value for price
Cons: racks are a little less easy to adjust compared

Looks good but not durable
Posted by: Disappointed from: on
I purchsed this dishwasher a year ago. Initially the design and quiteness were impressive. A few months after the one year warranty expired, the appliance broke down. To my surprise, most local appliance repairs don't work on Samsung products. There is only one authorized repair provider for the Maryland area, so it took quite a few days for them to come out. I had to shell $300 for diagnostics, part, and labor. Two months later, the appliace broke down again. Mind you, this is with regular family of 4 use. I called Samsung again and after a lot of phone time, they were willing to comp the labor but not the part. This will be my last Samsung appliance.

Failed at 14 months

Started leaking after 14 months. No longer under warranty and I'm not paying 300+ to fix.
At least it had a leak sensor so it shutdown and didn't ruin my kitchen floor.

Poor design - even worse Samsung Customer Service
Posted by: REALLYSadCustomer from: on
I started having odor issues with this dishwasher not even a month after purchasing it on 5/25/14. I've had 6 techs out to look at it and they recommend things like changing the detergent, running the hot water, using Jet Dry, etc. to re-plumbing through the garbage disposal. I've complied with all of their suggestions. No parts were ever replaced on the unit and the one part that the 6th tech is saying should be replaced Samsung is stating that it's a "customer maintenance issue" and claiming that I've never cleaned the dishwasher and damaged it. To make a really long story short - it's now 4/30/15 and I'm being denied service on it because it's in Samsung's system that I've damaged it and it's a "customer maintenance issue." Never mind the fact that it's been an ongoing issue for nearly a year.
I've spent nearly 8 hours on the phone with Samsung & Lowe's, not to mention the emails and now reviews that are being spent on this. I don't want another customer to have the same experience and am hoping this is a fluke, but I know I personally won't take the chance on another Samsung Appliance.
Thankfully I purchased the Lowe's Protection Plan and will eventually be able to get some help, but will have to wait another month to start the process ALL over again. SIGH! The bad thing is that I bought a fridge and dishwasher at the same time - I used to love Samsung, now I'll never buy another appliance from them again.
The poor design I feel is the bottom door gasket - it's woven into the door and has 3 slits on the left, right and center, this allows for water to get it, build up, and stink. This isn't the only issue with this dishwasher as it wouldn't have started stinking so soon, especially since I rise my dishes before putting them in as well as wipe down access water on the door before closing it.
OH and all 3 service companies (Colorado): Brand Source, A&E Appliance, & One Source Appliance Repair ALL LIED in their service notes. Gee, do you think they're taught that?

Run! Don't walk from this product!
Posted by: Lorimac from: on
Had this dishwasher for a little over 2 years and just replaced it. Had the same problem (erroneous error message that prevents the cycle from finishing) since day 1 and despite 3 attempts to fix it (the last at my expense) the problem still exists. Neither Samsung or Best Buy will stand by this product and I have no choice but to replace it. According to my repairman, this is typical for this product. Save yourself the $ and aggravation and purchase another brand.

Poor Quality Dishwasher
Posted by: Matt from: on
Purchased a package of Samsung appliances for our home over a year ago. The dishwasher has never stopped leaking no matter how it is leveled. The dishwashing detergent door regularly fails to open during the cycle forcing a second washing. The washing quality is very poor. There are always items we have to wash by hand because the dishwasher didn't do the job. We will be replacing the dishwasher within the year with a Bosch.
