Previous owners of the home I bought left their old washer and dryer. They both had to be 15 - 20 years old. So it was time for an upgrade. I found this beauty at Best Buy when they were having their Labor Day sale on Washer and Dryers. I purchased the matching dryer (Platinum color looks great). This thing is quiet and you can barely hear it during the spin cycle. I can't wait to see the water bill because it barely uses any water and my clothes come out clean and smelling great!
The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because 1) The 'Bedding' cycle selection doesn't light up when turning the cycle select knob. 2) Everytime a load is washing it sounds like it's leaking. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be making that sound. I've had the washer for 2 weeks and I haven't found any water on the floor so maybe it's just me.
Lastly, I also purchased the matching pedestals. Samsung has to find a way to bring the price down on these things. Why not take away the drawer function, since they're on the small side, and just make a metal block that the washer and dryer sits on. Sell them for $150ish each and everybody would be happier.

AWFUL, BROKE WITHIN 1 YR, CUSTOMER SERVICE AWFUL
Posted by: CSL11 from: on
My husband and I bought this washer based on the reviews. HUGE MISTAKE. About 7 months into having the washer, it completely stopped working. The drum would no longer spin, and it was useless. "Luckily," we were within the manufacturer's one year warranty. OH MY GOD, SAMSUNG WAS A NIGHTMARE TO WORK WITH.- an incompetent customer service team with a terrible system. Not exaggerating, we had to make 20+ calls, each of which we were referred to someone else, and told the same thing every time, "we will call you in a few days." They sent two separate repairmen out who looked at the machine, shrugged their shoulders, and said they couldn't help. It is now OVER ONE MONTH after we placed the initial claim, and we are still waiting for our refund. Save yourself the trouble and DO NOT BUY SAMSUNG. Faulty product and customer service that was horrendous beyond words.

Our 12 year old LG washer and dryer started having issues recently. They were excellent. 0 problems for 12 years. But when you're looking at hundreds of dollars time to change.
We read great reviews on Samsung. We liked the way they looked in the stores. Bought pedestals this time. Very quiet. If the clothes are unbalanced and it starts to shake it stops, spins in reverse and problem solved. We had a great sales person at our local best buy and explained differences in top loading (14 gallons compared to 7) to front loading. We purchased the matching dryer and like it as well. Really haven't used the steam function to make any comments on it.

Not happy about the wobbling.
Posted by: Atown24 from: on
Overall, the price was fair and reasonable considering the brand and comparisons to other/similar products but not satisfied with the mechanic of it. We were told by the installers that after about 10 washes, the machine will calibrate itself and no wobbling will occur. Unfortunately, that has not been the case for us. We have had just about that many washes and it still continues to wobble.

poor warranty service by Samsung
Posted by: johnva from: virginia on
We bought the washer dryer and stacked. However, heating element in dryer failed within 9 months. Samsung has a poor warranty response. 48 hours for a service company to call, who then says it will be a week.
Then they require the washer and dryer to be unstacked before service.
Claim that in warranty it says it has to be in service position. Unbelieveable.

Great washer, quiet with a fantastic spin!

Only had this for about t a month, but so far this has been a great purchase. It efficiently washes my loads in a minimal amount of time and is very quiet. This is the first front-load washer I've owned, and frankly didn't know what to expect. Se far there have been no leaks, weird odors or washer "walk". Do yourself a favor though... After a load, leave the door open for a few hours to let it dry. This will cut down on the mildew and smells that can occur. We got this on sale and bought the combination w/d set with the optional pedestals.

WF42H5200AP Is an amazing washing machine

I had this washing machine for a month and so far I haven't had any problems with it.
Delivery was on time and after reading the manual it was ready to do laundry.
I didn't get the pedestals and actually I think its best if the machine sits on the floor. It washes quietly and you don't even hear it running until it is spinning the clothes out. I don't know why some people complain that it is loud when spinning. Yes it does make noise when on the spin cycle but that is normal. Sometimes the machine does get off balance but the machine stops itself and automatically balances itself. This is normal for a front load machine because the clothes are tumbling unlike a front load washer where you place the clothes evenly and they stay that way.
I tried every cycle on this washer and I think my favorite is bedding because it uses the most water. It does clean clothes real good even on normal which uses the least amount of water. The first load I did I had a shirt in the washer with oil stains from frying food and the washer took the stain out and I was impressed.
Some people complain that there is water in the soap container, mine doesn't have water in the soap container. Maybe they didn't level the machine good? Also with the soap container the plastic inserts act as siphon cap, so if you don't leave the blue liquid fabric softer plastic piece in, the water will not drain.
This is a good washing machine and I haven't had a single problem with it. Just remember to REMOVE THE SHIPPING BOLTS, Level the machine and RUN THE CALIBRATION MODE by pressing Temp and Delayed end at the same time then press the start button. Calibration mode is important because once the machine is leveled and isn't wobbling on any of the 4 corners, the calibration modes adapts the machines drum spinning and provides a more accurate weight level for water to be added to the machine.
Now to save for the matching dryer. I am in love with laundry now, the machine performs beautifully and she is a beauty to look at too. Laundry is no longer a chore with this machine, it is a pleasure.

Love the front loaders
Posted by: Tracy from: on
Our dryer which was almost 10 years old stopped working. It would run but the drum just stopped spinning. Rather than fix it and knowing that it was approaching 10 years old we figured to just replace it.. Since we were replacing the dryer, we figured we might as well replace the washer too since we had it for the same amount of time. My husband was the one that did the research and found the washer and dryer on sale. So I went down and ordered them and had them delivered that Monday. I absolutely love the front loaders and they are so quite. In fact, so much so, that I had to go into the laundry room to see if they were still running. I like the fact that they have the feature of the sound going off when the cycle is done. I wish that the drawers to go underneath the units wasn't so expensive. However, I found some in the dent and scratch section when I went to my local Lowe's and picked them up along with spray paint to have it match as close to the color of the washer and dryer. This weekend they will be installed with help from friends. So now the units will be raised up a bit which will be a big help.

Great Products but installation was poor.
Posted by: Sportsrus from: on
I was very, very disappointed in the customer service. I purchased the washer and dryer on June 30 and it took 4 times for someone to come out and get the units installed and the old ones removed. This is 3 times too many. I had to deal with corporate and the store manager to get the units finally installed and it took two weeks. This should have all been done when the new units were delivered. This was not a good experience and I will have to seriously think before I purchase something from Best Buy again.
