Excellent soundbar! I'm impressed!
Posted by: awh11 from: on
So it's "only a 2.1 channel" soundbar, but to be honest I don't see much need beyond 2 channels and the sub, considering the soundbar is placed in front of you (and not around you).
What can I say? The sound is excellent (for all uses). The price is right, and the core features are there. (Bluetooth works well and is easy to pair devices). The subwoofer requires pretty much no setup which is appreciated. It pairs to the bar the first time you use it with zero intervention required.
One edge this soundbar has over some slightly older models is that it has an HDCP 2.2 port. For those who don't know, thats essentially an HDMI port that will probably wind up being required when 4K Ultra-HD Blu-Ray players come out. If the player requires HDCP and your soundbar/TV doesnt have it, then you're out of luck - it won't work. While only 1 of the 3 HDMI ports are HDCP, it does at least have it whereas some devices don't.
As a final added bonus, if you happen to use this with certain TVs (I happen to have a Sony XBR-55X850C), it syncs flawlessly with it. No need for multiple, remotes. The power/volume/mute/input controls are completely synced between both the TV and Soundbar which was quite satisfying. It won't be a feature for everyone, but for those who do use it - it's pretty sweet.
Ultimately though for the price, quality, and easy setup, this is an excellent option for those looking to upgrade their TV sound without buying a receiver and separate speakers.

As an audiophile I can't give it a 5 star as to me that would mean it's near perfect and sounds fantastic. While it's not at that level I'm rather impressed and very happy with my purchase. It was a somewhat spontaneous buy so I'm glad it went as well as it did.
As a long term home theatre fanatic I have far higher standards than most when it comes to AV gear. I've never been a fan of virtual surround systems as, well, they're never as good a true surround. I have a 5.1 system in my living room and 7.2 system in my dedicated home theatre. As such I was leery about a system like this, especially at a relatively non-cheap price but since it was for a small bedroom I'd give it a go. Even if the virtual surround isn't as good as a true 5.1 (and it's not# the room is so small I would never do 5.1 anyway. In short I'm very pleased.
The virtual surround isn't really that additive but the far higher fidelity and richness of the sound vs the speakers in my flat panel Samsung is as dramatic as one would assume. Really the only 2 things I don't like are needing to drill a hole in the wall behind the speaker to run the power and optical cable #to keep all wiring 100% invisible, I spend much time/effort/money to ensure this in all my systems# and that I either have to use something like a Logitech Harmony remote as in my application I have it connected optical. I actually like the Samsung remote and as I use it's built in Smart Clients #manly Plex TV).
Other than the relatively high price, which does give at least reward you with high fidelity audio, I would recommend this without hesitation, hands down. If you're in the market for a sound bar here is your solution.

Great, but some vibration sound
Posted by: Gpc22 from: on
Great, functional, great crisp sound. Just some deeper tones during movies and sounds make a vibration type of sound. I can live with it. But I wouldn't think that would happen for the price and quality of this soundbar.

Great sound for a medium to large bedroom
Posted by: Spatter from: on
With today's large flatscreen TV's the built in speakers aren't designed for any quality sound, especially if you life music or you want the full video experience. If you listen to the news, the built in speakers are fine but if you want more, you may consider this. I connected it using the optical cable and my universal cable remote turns it on at the same time as the TV and Cable box and I have instant quality sound with my HDTV!

Great sound bar
Posted by: ayeitsgera from: on
This sound bar is a huge improvement from the built in tv speakers. I've had it for about a month and a half now and i'm really enjoying it. I think it's definitely great for the price point, but the sound will not blow you away. Sometimes I wish I had spent the extra money and gone with the Energy CS-30.
Tip: Do not use the cheap optical cable that is included in the box. You may experience serious distortion that way. Use an HDMI cable and plug it into the ports that say ARC (on both tv and sound bar).

Great pairing with Sony 4K UHD TV
Posted by: Ares from: Alexandria, VA on
Purchased to pair with our new 70" Sony Bravia XBR70 X850B Ultra HD TV. This sound bar paired seamlessly with the TV, all connections for other periferals (BluRay, Apple TV, etc.) plug into the soundbar itself. My only complaint about everything plugging into the soundbar is that you have to set the the input device via the sound bars remote, verses the TV remote. However, any remote used to turn the TV on does automatically turn on the soundbar, which is convenient.
Sound is superb, for the price point. The room we have this set up, is approximately 12' x 22' and the soundbar and subwoofer fill the room with cinematic quality sound. Voices are crisp, you can sense the stereo/simulated surround, and the bass is deep and intense. We have the wireless sub hidden away behind the couch, which is nice and doesn't distort any of the sound generated by the system.
The design of the soundbar is slim enough to fit nicely right in front of the TV, with minimal coverage of this Sony TV's IR remote sensor. We elevated the TV an inch with some laminated lumber so we could fit the soundbar completely underneath the TV, works/looks great.
Overall, the sound quality, design and functionality was perfect for our new UHD TV, providing cinematic sound and complete integration of all input devices. Highly recommended pairing with a Sony Bravia UHD TV.
