  • Key Specs
    • Effective Pixels: 20.1 megapixels (The actual number of pixels which make up the viewable image.)
  • General
    • Product Name: Cyber-shot RX10 III 20.1-Megapixel Digital Camera
    • Brand: Sony
    • Model Number: DSCRX10M3/B
    • Color: Black
    • Digital Camera Type: DSLR Camera with Lens
  • Imaging
    • Image Sensor Type: Exmor CMOS (CCD and CMOS are the two main technologies used in image sensors. CCD, the older of the two types, turns analog light signals into digital pixels. This conversion happens without distortion, resulting in high-quality images. Newer CMOS sensors use transistors at each pixel to move electrical charges. CMOS sensors are typically less expensive, but also require more light to create distortion-free images.)
    • Image Resolution (Display): 5472 x 3648 (Refers to the number of pixels, both horizontally and vertically, used to either capture an image or display it. The higher the resolution the finer the image details.)
    • Zoom Capability: true (This function allows for magnification of the subject.)
    • Digital Zoom: 4x (A digital zoom is accomplished electronically, with no adjustment of the camera's optics, and no optical resolution gained in the process. The existing data is not enhanced or added to, merely displayed at a lower resolution, thereby giving an illusion of an enlarged image.)
    • Low Light/High Sensitivity: true (High sensitivity digital imaging devices are designed to work in low light conditions to produce a high dynamic range image.)
    • Image File Format(s): AVCHD, JPEG, MP4, RAW (Standardized software format(s) of storing digital images. The type of format chosen for capturing and compressing the image can determine quality, level of detail, and storage space required.)
  • Focus
    • Autofocus: true (Allows the camera to automatically focus through the lens, rather than by adjusting the lens manually.)
  • Exposure Control
    • Shutter Speeds: 30 - 1/2000 sec, Bulb, iAuto mode: 4 - 1/2000 sec; Electronic shutter: 30 - 1/32000 sec, iAuto mode: 4 - 1/32000 sec (The length of time the shutter remains open when the shutter release is activated, expressed in fractions of seconds. The longer the shutter is open, the more light that is able to be captured by the camera sensor.)
    • Minimum Aperture: 4 f/ (The smallest opening of a lens, typically expressed in f-numbers. The larger the number, the smaller the aperture and the less light that can enter the lens. A smaller aperture creates a larger depth of field, which keeps both foreground and background in focus.)
    • Maximum Aperture: 2.4 f/ (The limit to how wide a lens can be open, typically expressed in f-numbers. The smaller the number, the larger the aperture and the more light that can enter the lens. A larger aperture creates a shallower depth of field, helpful for keeping subjects in focus and blurring background details.)
    • Burst Mode: true (Also referred to as continuous shooting. This feature captures multiple shots in rapid succession.)
    • Self Timer: true
    • Self-Timer Delay: 10 seconds
    • Shooting Modes: AUTO, Program Auto, Aperture Priority, Shutter Speed Priority, Manual Exposure, Memory Recall Modes, Movie Mode, HFR Modes, Panorama, Scene Selection (Exposure modes employed by the photographer to control the optimal aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and other settings for capturing specific subjects/scenes. Examples include Aperture-Priority, Macro, and Manual modes.)
    • Panorama Mode: true
    • Scene Modes: Portrait, Sport, Macro, Landscape, Sunset, Night (Exposure modes with predetermined optimal settings for capturing specific scenes. Examples include Landcape, Portrait, and Sports modes.)
    • White Balance Modes: Auto / Daylight / Shade / Cloudy / Incandescent / Fluor.: Warm White / Fluor.: Cool White / Fluor.: Day White / Fluor.: Daylight / Flash / C.Temp. / Filter / Custom (Settings that calibrates how the color white is rendered in an image/video, reducing the appearance of unnatural contrasts caused by various light sources.)
    • Effective Pixels: 20.1 megapixels (The actual number of pixels which make up the viewable image.)
  • Lens
    • Lens Type: Other
    • Minimum Focal Length: 8.8 millimeters (The minimum distance between the lens and the image sensor that allows the subject to be in focus. The shorter the focal length, the greater the area of scene captured.)
    • Maximum Focal Length: 220 millimeters (The maximum distance between the lens and the image sensor that allows the subject to be in focus. The greater the focal length, the smaller the area of scene captured.)
    • In-Lens Image Stabilization: false (This feature helps reduce image blurring from camera motion. Lens stabilization means an element within the lens moves automatically to counteract detected motion.)
    • Lens Series: Sony DT (The product group that the lens belongs to, based on similar shared features.)
    • Lens Model Number: Zeiss® Vario-Sonnar® T* Lens
  • Flash
    • Flash Modes: Automatic, Fill-in, Off, Rear curtain sync, Slow sync (The flash feature emits light to increase the brightness of a subject in dimly lit environments. Common modes include Auto and Red-Eye Reduction.)

  • Display
    • Display Type: TFT-LCD
    • Screen Size: 2.95 inches (Size of the screen, measured diagonally from corner to corner.)
    • Screen Resolution: 1,228,800 dots (Screens come in a range of resolutions (measured in pixels, horizontal x vertical). The higher the resolution, the greater the picture quality.)
    • Viewfinder Type: Electronic (A viewfinder is the part of a camera (or attachment) that allows you to see and focus a scene in frame. Optical viewfinders let you view the scene directly through the lens. Electronic viewfinders display the image on a screen in its approximate final form.)
    • Touch Screen: false (Touch-screen devices make navigating more intuitive. Using a touch-screen display, you can do things such as tap to select, hold and drag to move items, swipe to scroll, and pinch to zoom.)
  • Video

Q: Does this item come with a battery charger or do you have to buy that separately?

A: Hi Judi, You do not have to buy a charger. But there is a wire that comes with the camera that will charge the battery while its in the camera. Myself, i bought an extra battery & a separate charger that I plug into my power strip. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Q: It's very cold in Maine and I have a Sony DSC -RX 10 III shipping UPS today...Is that a problem?? D

A: The whole camera will be really cold!! So when you get the camera let it sit til it warms up to room temperature. I wouldn't charge a battery that's really cold. Make sure that battery is is room temp or close to it. Not ice cold to the touch. Myself I wouldn't charge a cold battery.

Q: If I order this camera, and it is delivered to a local store, what are the conditions for return. there are currently no demos to try in the store.

A: Generally just the item with all parts and accessories and your receipt! They can look it up if you are a rewards member and/or if you used a debit or credit card. Just have to bring the card in physically to swipe through to pull up your receipt. If you are a rewards member, just give them your phone number and it can be looked up. As long as that info was put on the original receipt. Item can be opened. If you tried it and didn't like it, No problem. Just make sure it is still in good condition and within the return period which is the least 15 days (depending on your rewards membership) Some members get an extended period of 45 days.

Q: I've used the RX 10 mk II with great results. The weakness was the zoom. Before I buy the camera, I would need to hold it and try it. When will you have one I can try?

A: Hi Pinlight, in response to your concern, please contact your local BestBuy store to check if they have a demo unit that you can try. Dave

Q: Does this camera have selfy remote capacity?

A: it does have a self timer release, which could give you time to get into the picture after pressing the shutter button.
