Headband easily cracks
Posted by: lakewoodmikey from: on
After 6 months the headband developed stress fracture near the speaker on one side and later separated completely from the speaker. This was repaired using fiberglass however a crack developed a few months later on the other side of the headband near the other speaker. The material thickness is not suitable at headband/speaker interface. This is a systemic flaw in the design that's present in many turtle beach headset models.

Turtle Beach Headset for XboxOne
Posted by: TechSupport from: on
They are great while they work, but have a terrible design flaw. This was a replacement for another that broke. My son has replaced this same headset several times with the same issues - wires get twisted and break. They need to re-design these with a swivel for the wires so that they don't get all twisted up; wouldn't cost much, but would allow the headset to last much longer.
At this point, I'm guessing that this is a "design feature" for Turtle Beach so that you are required to replace them every year. If you buy these, make sure you buy the Performance Plan, as YOU WILL NEED IT!!!

Poor overall quality
Posted by: RoundupBob from: on
I bought two sets of these heads sets at Best Buy. One for for my 24-year-old son and one for myself. I must admit they were more than satisfactory until the problem happen. The headband broke on both the headsets. The first one was my sons set it broke after about six months. Mine lasted nine months before the same thing happened They both broke on the side opposite the microphone. I'm 64 years old and do not abuse by equipment. They were never thrown, drop sit on or had any other rough abuse done to them. They both simply broke under normal use. The microphone and speakers components are outstanding. As far as the quality of the material that they are made of, it is extremely unsatisfactory for the price we paid for these headsets.I absolutely would not recommend these headsets.

Best freaking sound, Worst freaking material
Posted by: Seorn from: on
Had mine for 4 months, 2 days ago the left side where the length adjusts above the left earphone cracked halfway through, thought to myself it was no biggie, just tape it. Today, I take the headphones off my ears, lo and behold, the right side where it swivels completely snapped off and now it's useless because I can't wear it, can't glue it, can't tape it. Thanks so much for not including a limited 1year warranty with these, instead forcing us to pay an extra 12 bucks to get the 2 year warranty for it.

OK but not the sturdiest
Posted by: AndyW from: on
We have gone through several sets of these with our teenage sons. We purchased the replacement program, which has paid for itself in spades. Overall, they are well-featured, decent headphones, they just tend to fail where the headphone pivots. Basically, they will last about 6-12 months under regular teenage boy use.

They are EXTREMELY uncomfortable
Posted by: MrSnowman from: on
They have amazing sound quality and the mic is very nice as well, HOWEVER they are SO uncomfortable. I would wear these for about 2 minutes and i would get a headache, then after about a half-hour the pressure from the headset started to give me a tooth-ache in the back of my mouth. They are nice for someone who wants to play a game for 2 minutes without pain. The pain got worse and worse until i had to return them. VERY disappointed in Turtle Beach.

Tired of these breaking
Posted by: abnscout from: on
I have bought 3 sets of X12 headsets for my son this year. I bought the warranty at another store and will now only by from best buy as you can bring them back to the store, and you will bring them back. On all the sets we have bought the mic goes out within a month. The sound is fine. The cables are super long and in the way. I won't spend another penny on Turtle beach headsets.

Some Assembly Required
Posted by: VetrenCosmcRokr from: Indianapolis, IN on
The sound quality is quite good and the headphones are very comfortable. The separate volume control for chat and game sound is very useful. The price was also good since they were bought on a Black Friday sale.
On the downside, when I went to hook them up I discovered I needed to purchase an adapter for my XBox (other options given were not practical for me). The adapter was not too pricy but it required another trip to the store.
If I had to do it over again I'd save my money and get a wireless version. The wires included with this unit are long enough to stretch across the room but you are always having to deal with 20 feet of wire getting snarled, etc. Coiling and uncoiling the wires is a pain and I should have gone wireless.
If you get this item make sure to get the adapter to plug in the back of your XBox at the same time.

product isn't very durable
Posted by: rtisme from: on
This product is not very durable and for the price isn't worth it. Turtle Beach headphones are basic beginner gaming headphones at best. Knew I wasn't buying top of the line but expected more for my money.

This is my second pair of turtle beaches and I should have learned from my first mistake. Every time these just wear out and the plastic above the ears eventually cracks a little and gets worse over time until it finally snaps. For 29.99 these maybe worth it just know they are a very temporary solution. If you don't mind constantly gluing or taping up your head phones then these might not be bad for you, the sound and mic quality actually aren't terrible . But if your a normal adult who doesn't wanna wear a cheap piece of plastic while gaming then research something else. Literally anything else
