About this product
Vinyl LP pressing. Foxwarren's backstory reads like a page torn from the manual of rock & roll authenticity. They are siblings and childhood friends who formed a band in college. They went on to live as roommates and recorded an album in the basement of a rented house. Even the band's namesake comes from the brothers (Avery and Darryl) Kissick's family home. The band's self-titled debut is subtle and thoughtful, it draws parallels to frontman Andy Shauf's solo work while leaning on collaboration and looseness rather than Shauf's meticulous arrangements. Where Shauf leaves space for orchestration, Foxwarren take time to ruminate on passages and themes. Propped up by warm driving rhythms and a familiar voice, and colored with soft electronics and coarse guitars, it's a record that ultimately hinges on sincerity. It captures the feeling of friends pushing each other, of a band looking inward for inspiration instead of outward for influence. It's a record that sat finished for years and almost never saw the light of day. We should count our lucky stars that they've decided to share it. Album Tracks 1. To Be (Foxwarren, Andy Shauf & Darryl Kissick) 2. Lost in a Dream (Foxwarren, Andy Shauf & Darryl Kissick) 3. Everything Apart (Foxwarren, Andy Shauf & Darryl Kissick) 4. In Another Life (Foxwarren, Andy Shauf & Darryl Kissick) 5. I'll Be Alright (Foxwarren, Andy Shauf & Darryl Kissick) 1. Lost on You (Foxwarren, Andy Shauf & Darryl Kissick) 2. Your Small Town (Foxwarren, Andy Shauf & Darryl Kissick) 3. Sunset Canyon (Foxwarren, Andy Shauf & Darryl Kissick) 4. Fall Into a Dream (Foxwarren, Andy Shauf & Darryl Kissick) 5. Give It a Chance (Foxwarren, Andy Shauf & Darryl Kissick)

Foxwarren, the Canadian indie collective fronted by Andy Shauf, returns with their sophomore album '2.'Joined by his fellow Canadian childhood friends and close collaborators Dallas Bryson (guitar), Darryl Kissick (bass), Avery Kissick (drums), and Colin Nealis (multi-instrumentalist), the eclectic sound of '2' - weaving genres ranging from folk to psych rock to downtempo - coincides with Shauf's curiosity and desire to incorporate a Native Instruments Maschine MSK3 sampler into his process. There is something uncanny about the feeling of these songs, the way bits recorded in different rooms amplify your attention, listening for how these layers lock. But their true connective tissue is the generous and gentle ways Shauf and the rest of Foxwarren move with melody. Album Tracks 1. Dance 2. Sleeping 3. Say It 4. Listen2Me 5. Quitealot2 6. Strange 7. When asked to describe the Foxery, each band member contributed one word Passionate. Intense. Cathartic. Heavy. Genuine. Fun. In a sense, there could be no better way to characterize both the music and the poetically thrashing spirit of the Louisville sextet. Coming on the heels of several independent releases, incessant DIY touring, and months and months of persistent writing, the Foxery has found their home on Spartan Records with Unless, unquestionably their most prolific record to date. Thematically, Unless tackles massive questions against the backdrop of a dark and wandering musical journey; however, the story doesn't end there. Amidst the darkness, there is a palpable sense of hope that builds as the record progresses. Subtle rhythm changes, melodic layers, and key modulations begin to alter the sonic landscape as the record reaches it's crescendo where it ultimately ends in a place of redemption. For fans of MeWithoutYou, Manchester Orchestra. Limited colored black and yellow vinyl.
