Q: Is there a way to turn it completely off without removing the batteries. Only need light for a few hours.

A: It does turn completely off if you continue to twist the black part until it clicks off. You are not wasting the battery power at all. I was afraid I would break it, but it just clicks hard to turn off.

Very handy light in many situations
There are a few things I really enjoy about this light. The light is silicone so it is resilient and easy to clean. You can stand it or hang it and the lighting is adjustable. This light is meant for smaller uses and for huge projects but none the less very handy and I'm quite happy with my purchase.

A perfect little lantern.
I bought this lantern to add to others we have to be prepared for power outages. A few days after it arrived, Hurricane Irma left us with two and a half days of no power. This lantern is small and light but really bright. The dimmer lets you set it all the way down to night light or anything in between. The batteries lasted through all the hours of use and it outperformed all of our bulky and much more expensive lanterns. It could be used anytime for added light in an awkward space, on an outside dining table, camping. It is the best and most versatile light I have ever had.

Great Little Light
I actually purchased this after it came up on a listing on Kinja Deals. I also used a rewards certificate so I wasn't expecting much from it. I was pleasantly surprised at it's design, brightness and ease of use.
