Mary Queen of Scots [DVD]

Lovely Mary Stuart -- queen of Scotland and France, but only sometime ruler of her own heart -- careens through a tumultuous life doomed to end with the flash of an executioner's blade. Men flatter her, then betray her. Her people embrace her, then vilify her. And her cousin Elizabeth I, fearful of Mary's claim to England's throne, imprisons her, then sends her to the scaffold. Directed by the legendary John Ford and adapted from Maxwel

Vanessa Redgrave stars as the strong-willed Mary Stuart, whose Catholic faith put her at odds with cousin Queen Elizabeth I of England (Glenda Jackson) and scheming half-brother James (Patrick McGoohan) in the 16th century. While Elizabeth worries that Mary may have designs on her throne, James plots to set himself up as Scotland's ruler. Timothy Dalton, Nigel Davenport, Trevor Howard, Daniel Massey, Ian Holm also star in this rich biopic. 128 min.
