best computer ive ever owned!Posted .
First i had the Sony VPCF115FM/B.....Then I got the ASUS G60VX-RBBX05...Now I have this one and i must say i wont need to trade this one in for anything! Plays all my games C&C Zero Hour (yes it will play older games unlike what others have said), Red Alert 3, Resident Evil 5, Tiberium wars, Bully Scholarship Edition, All the Lego Games..without any problems what so ever!!! Upgraded to windows 7 ultimate put in a second 500gb HDD (i took the hdd bracket and cut it in half so i didn't have to find a extra bracket worked perfectly) basically it everything i wanted in a PC portable, plays games flawlessly, hold all my movies and music, and looks awesome! Even my cat loves it (see pic)I would recommend this to a friendSorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.

the most problematic computer i've owned
the most problematic computer i've ownedPosted .
I've had my g72 for 2 weeks now. After exchanging the first one because it would freeze up when it went to sleep, my second laptop does the exact same thing. Not only can I not let it go to sleep, if you are lucky enough to wake it up, it looses internet connection while it sleeps. This makes it very difficult to download big files such as videos or games. The only way it will re-identify my internet connection is to unplug and plug back in my cable modem. And as for the Asus tech support, if you are lucky enough to get someone you can understand, all they want to do is have you wipe your hard drive and do a system recovery? This is by far the worst computer and customer service issues I have ever had. I would suggest even an emachine over an Ausus any day.No, I would not recommend this to a friendSorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.

Decent and Solid Gaming Laptop
Decent and Solid Gaming LaptopPosted .I would recommend this to a friend
I bought this in preparation for college since I'm not planning to drag my gaming desktop all the way to Southern California. I was looking for a gaming laptop and this Asus G72 hit the spot. First the good things about the laptop: Graphics; this laptop blazes through source games (Team Fortress 2, L4D2, CS:S). Other games including Fallout 3, Bioshock 2, Borderlands run just fine. You can boost the performance if you'd like by overclocking. The CPU is overclockable (you can unlock it through the BIOS.) Some people have reported being able to overclock the GPU since it is slightly underclocked compared to stock specs (I guessing through RivaTuner.) However I have personally not overclocked the GPU since it runs games just fine w/o it. Has 5.9 Windows Experience Index with the Hard Drive holding it back at 5.9. Gaming/Graphics 6.7, CPU 6.1, RAM 6.1. Benchmarks for 3DMark06 ranged from 10-11k. (Overclocked CPU by 15% to 2.8Ghz, stock GPU speeds) There are a lot of pros for the laptop such as a full sized backlit keyboard, four usb ports, e-sata port in the back and decently lit screen. In addition to the good performance and features of the laptop, it has decent cooling has not had any overheating issues. It's remaining cool over the summer so far. The bad: The biggest problem for me was the sleep problem. This laptop has a sleep problem in which after the laptop goes into sleep mode, it will not be able to wake up. This has been confirmed at the ASUS support forums, however theres still no permanent fix. A temporary work around is to set the power settings to never go into sleep mode. However, Hibernation still works fine. In contrast to another review, I would have to disagree about the speakers. The laptop is equipped with Altec Lansing speakers. Although I am a fan of Altec Lansing, the speakers did not meet my expectations. They are fine for basic usage but since I am an semi-audiophile I found myself buying some external speakers and some headphones the day after i purchased this laptop. The plastic shell around the laptop screen is a bit flimsy and is not firmly attached to the screen. Although it should not be much of a problem for the most part, for me, this allowed the built in webcam to move out of place after about 3 weeks of usage. I simply used a flat head screw drive to push the webcam back into place but it might not work for others who experience this problem. The battery life is quite poor, it lasts about 2 hours even after setting power settings to low, lowest screen brightness, underclocked cpu etc. However long battery life should not be expected from a gaming laptop. Another issue I have with the product is that immediately after purchasing the product, I had installed CPU-Z and Hardware Monitor Z (because I am a nerd) to check the specs of the laptop. First thing that caught my eye was the fact that I only had 4GB DDR2 memory installed in contrast to the listed 6GB on the website. I don't if it was an advertising mistake, I got a defective one, or if someone took a stick out. The performance difference between 4GBand 6GB is not big enough for me to complain about. The plastic on the laptop is glossy and is powerful fingerprint magnet. Also if you have a dusty room, the glossy-ness makes it really stand out, I found myself using the included Asus LCD cleaning cloth to wipe the glossy plastic more often than for cleaning the screen. The laptop is also not very convenient--barely fits in my backpack and I have yet to find a decent case for it. Overall the laptop is solid and great for gaming use. Side note: If you are willingly to spend ~$200 more, Bestbuy is selling a G73JH-RBBX05 equipped with a Core i7, 6GB DDR3, and a 5870. Personally I felt that would've been a better deal however I was on a strict budget when purchasing this laptop.Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.

best comp for the price
best comp for the pricePosted .I would recommend this to a friend
For the price its one of the best on the market ,its awesome for gaming ,can run multiple windows and a game at the same time without lagging, I got mine for playing wow and would recommend it to any one that does a lot of gaming. It has a nice sized screen awesome for watching movies and such too. Cons:Its big and bulky it doesnt even fit in my laptop bag,the keys are kind of sensitive its easy to get extra letters popping up if u push the button to long,i don't like the volume control u have to press fn and the volume keys. Note of advise :Ive noticed that a lot of people complain about theirs over heating but its not a problem as long as you keep it on a flat surface so the fan can breath ,laptops are not meant to sit on carpets blankets or any surface that obstructs airflow to the fan.and running them on such surfaces can result in damage to any laptop All in all its a good laptop and id recommend it to anyone that's looking to use it for gaming .Sorry, there was a problem. Very very sweet

Well, when we first got our laptop there was a large dead pixel shining bright red in the middle of the screen. We brought it back and had it exchanged for another. I do not think it was a problem with Asus or Best Buy, these things sometimes happen. Everything else worked fine! Great back lighting, HUGE screen. This laptop is a 6 lb BEAST, don't expect to bring it on extended flights. That being said, it is the fastest, most quiet and efficient laptop I've ever owned. If you do not get it optimized, it does not come with all the annoying bloatware. Just make sure you know how to update all your firmware and drivers, don't mess with your laptop with out of date drivers and firmware. I would recommend downloading and installing ALL of your games as soon as you can, as it is only a 2 week return policy you want to use it up in that time (so to speak) as much as you can with your programs, just to make sure there is nothing wrong. If we had not played it for the first day, we would never have seen that dead pixel. Great buy!!Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.

Excellent Laptop!! Runs likes a beast!

I bought my ASUS G72GX-RBBX05 about a month ago. At first, it will freeze up sleep mode. This is a common problem I hear, but easily solved by upgrading everything. After upgrading, it works perfectly. Another problem is when you come out of sleep mode, you play a game, such as COD. The fps will drop drastically to make it unplayable. This can also be fixed using the ASUS Utility provided with the laptop. By getting a BIOS online, this will correct this error. After these episodes, the laptop works like a charm. Two minor inconveniences are the size and slick finish. It is very difficult to find a bag that can fit this monster, but I found a Targus carry bag at Best Buy that fits my ASUS, INCLUDING A SLEEVE, into the bag. With the slick black and sparkly blue (You can see it at stores, not on the shop site), it is very susceptible to smudges. ASUS is always on the job and includes an LCD wipe for smudges. The NVIDIA GTX260M with 1gb dedicated makes sure you won't slow down in games such as WoW or Call of Duty. I am an avid CoD player and it runs silk smooth with quality set to max. Nothing can stop this beast! Video quality is perfect. The widescreen display shows any videos crystal clear. Also the HDMI cable slot makes it very easy to show presentations or any youtube videos on most new TVs and Projectors. Extras-- +Lit Keyboard +Decent Speakers (no need for external speakers) +Cool Running even the highest quality of games +Very Quiet! All in all, this laptop was a great buy! This is good replacement for any desktop if needed. Not only is it an unstoppable gaming machine, it works great for any needs you may have at college. The ASUS G72GX series is an excellent purchase and will be a great graduation present for that gaming graduate!! :)Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.

Greatest Laptop Deal in Existence
Greatest Laptop Deal in ExistencePosted .I would recommend this to a friend
I am a big computer/laptop researcher and tend to research for a couple months before making my final purchasing decision. I came to the conclusion that the ASUS G71gx was the best deal out there but when they suddenly disappeared off the shelves and were replaced by the ASUS G72gx I knew I made the right choice in waiting to purchase this updated model. This computer is absolutely stunning. Despite having top of the line hardware, there are no overheating issues with this laptop whatsoever. The chasis size was increased from the G71gx model and I believe this fixed the overheating issues that were prevalent in the old model. Windows 7 is fantastic. Fast and efficient like Win XP, beautiful and elegant like VISTA, and now very user interactive but less intrusive much like OSX. For gamers, this computer is the deal of the century. This model (thankfully) uses a P8700 2.53GHz dual-core over the newer Core i7s or Quad Cores which come at lower clock speeds. The P8700 will beat a lower-clocked quad core or i7 laptop/computer simply because of its high clock speeds and because most programs/games are optimized only for dual-core - not quad. And because there are no overheating issues present - all the better to have a higher clocked CPU. I am currently playing WoW on ULTRA (full-graphic settings) at 1600-900wide resolution (full shadows on). World FPS ranges from 125-180 FPS. Cities are 80-100 FPS at non-peak times, and 50-75 at peak times. I have never hit below 30 FPS in Dalaran during PEAK times with this laptop (most high-end desktops with SLI setups cannot achieve this. Dalaran at ULTRA settings is notorious for bringing even the best gaming machines to its knees). Again, I attribute much of this computer's success with its internal design which facilitates its quick cooling. The fan is strong and does it job while every inch of the laptop remains cool to the touch. Last but not least - ASUS. The wonderful people at ASUS decided to not preinstall as much useless software on the factory setup versions on this laptop. There are at most 3 or 4 programs you may uninstall during personal setup, but if any of you are previous Toshiba or SONY consumers you will know the frustration of finding your computer filled with loads of useless preinstalled software and advertisements on your HD causing slow start ups and boot times. Thankfully ASUS did away with this on this laptop. Christmas has come early this year people. This IS the BEST BUY of the season, of the year, perhaps of the past few years. Thanks Best Buy!Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
