      Good Multiplayer Fun

Black Ops 4 is exactly what you think it is. It takes heavy inspiration form Black Ops 3 but removed the controversial wall-running and jet packs. While I enjoyed those features, it does make this iteration feel more like the older games where the focus is on "boots on the ground". The action and gun-play is on point and what we've come to expect from CoD. However, I'm not a fan of the new system where the right and left bumper throw grenades. Grenades aren't even unlocked until you hit level 40 or so! L1 is a stimpack that you can use whenever. It just takes a second to cool down before you can use it again. You must choose between a lethal grenade or your specialist weapon on R1. I think placing the specialist weapon on the D-Pad would have been a much better option. Blackout is a ton of fun. As someone who wasn't impressed by PubG, I was truly surprised by how enjoyable this is. The quick/auto equip of scopes and attachments is so much better than manually selecting these options like in PubG. I also appreciate this mode because it is a good battle royal with movement and aiming that feels natural. Fortnite's aiming took me a while to get used to. Standard online modes are back and as good as ever. The specialist system from Black Ops 3 is back and the usual pick-10 system from Black Ops 2 is still here. So far the maps are great. At present, Black Ops 4 is a fun game with a few hiccups. Hopefully the DLC will improve the game and not cause balance issue. P.S. There's no campaign, but who care since BO3's was garbage.

Played the beta and have been in withdrawal ever since. The graphics for blackout are decidedly uninspiring which i assume is due to the mechanics of battle-royal .. but seriously! That being said it plays well and what i loses in graphics it gives back with strategic game-play. The map for blackout is outstanding, great variety with lots of places to hold out with your squad. I feel the multiplayer maps and experience are a nice step up from black ops III . Zombie mode is beautiful, with much the same mechanics as previous iterations. Cons: 50GB download which is almost 3 hours on PS4 linked through a google fiber connection ... god help you all on comcast !! With a 50gb download going on hours, they really should consider putting a mini campaign on disc so you can do something whilst you wait on the download. Pre-ordered, and received 1pm on the launch day, should have got it to me before release day so i could pre-load it ...

Black Ops 4 just doesn't' grab me the same was 3 or 2 did back in their days. The gameplay is smooth as you'd expect from Treyarch, and I can't knock it on performance. I like how they streamlined the multiplayer playlists, I like how seamless and snappy the menus are. Heist is a standout mode. But the early gear is possibly the worst in the franchise, and the later you wait to start playing, the worse it will be for you. I already see higher level players stomping around because it takes a few hours to get a competitive set of weapons and perks. I'm not a big fan of Blackout. It's not for me, BR in general really isn't for me. But what I have played felt pretty polished and worth a look if you're a fan of the mode. I can't say what really makes it standout against PUBG or Fortnite outside the Call of Duty packaging. Zombies is as stellar as ever. It feels harder to get going, and the easter eggs are brutal. But the mode is still a fun time waster for running and gunning with friends. Blood of the Dead is an amazing map. But if you don't have a team to play with, it'll be a short lived mode.

      Lack of content

You would think with the extra focus on multiplayer there would be an ample amount of content but sadly there is not. For me the Blackout mode is hit or miss but Is a nice addition. Zombies still has less maps than World at War which had 5 maps at launch, I'm not a fan of zombies but for the people who are that sucks that you will never get at least 5 maps like World at War. Now the multiplayer does have some nice changes but with a lackluster create a class it disappoints, the perks and kill streaks are once again reused from previous games so nothing new and the attachment options are too little for my taste. The guns and maps are no better as they to seem to be lacking, it seems that with every new game there are fewer weapons and as for the maps there are only 14 maps which is one more than Black ops 3. This years Call of Duty is supposed to be more focused on multiplayer but with the lack of content it falls short to what could be a 4 or 5 out of 5. I don't recommend this game at full price so wait for a sale, especially if you are considering the season pass.

Got this game because my friends were planning to play this until Red Dead comes out and it was a good investment. I haven't played a Call of Duty since Black Ops 1, and they really changed up the zombie mode. I know, we still mow down zombies and all but now we have the power of the Gods as well? I could use Thors hammer and summon different Perks through other gods. It's pretty crazy but I like it. Another thing I love is the blackout mode. That mode is super fun. Its like if PubG was done right. Great mode to play with your friends. And lastly the multi-player, it's a lot faster and crazier than ever. Since my last game was black ops 1, this is a different animal in terms of pace but it's good to see the original maps again. It really feels rewarding when you get the kill of the round or when you go on a kill streak. I have yet to try the operator missions but I heard that's a trip too. I can't wait to get on tonight to play with the boys.

Game is fun for about 15mins at a time. Then it starts getting frustrating. The formula is much different than other COD games, manual healing that uses perk slots, one grenade throw every 5 mins while you wait for it to recharge, no story or campaign. Blackout mode is somewhat fun if you can stand waiting a few minutes after you land for the textures and items to pop in. There is a severe lack of customization in all modes, hardly any weapons to choose from and the outfits are just the same thing with different colors. Even the character models are all the same. Every Male character has the same exact face with only the hair changing. You can tell they put forth little effort into making this game and nothing was fixed from the beta. That being said it has potential and hopefully itll go the route of No Mans Sky and get some great free updates that fix this mess.

I'd personally say aside from Black Ops 3, that the COD franchise has definitely suffered from a lack of quality and innovation since 2013 when the game COD: Ghosts was released. Black Ops 4 brings me back to what was so fun about the older games; Fun and rewarding multiplayer (with new mechanics introduced such as the manual healing system), another zombies iteration with a brand new story to tell and 3 maps to play from the start, and Treyarch's version of a battle royale mode, called Blackout. Overall, aside from the very annoying bugs that continue to plague the COD franchise at every launch such as server issues and crashes (which have been for the most part fixed by the time of the posting of this review), this is a very worthwhile addition in the franchise.

The reason I am giving this game a 1 star is because the only way you can play this game is online. It does not have a story mode for single player at all. That's really disappointing to me. I do not play multiplayer games because people are ruthless on those unless you have a bunch of friends to team up with. Sorry Call of Duty fans but this fan is not happy with the fact that you cannot play without an internet connection and the LAME single player mode is a joke. If you love multiplayer platforms then you will love this game. The graphics and controls are the best yet for Call of Duty. Too bad.
