Q: Does this camera record 24/7 or is it triggered by motion? Im curious about data consumption.
A: Triggered by motion. Though you can connect and view the field of vision 24x7. I can record or take a snapshot and download to my phone. Unless you pay for the ring storage (cloud storage) you only have a few 15 seconds videos available to you, and they only stay in the que for a limited time.
Q: Do you need two cameras if you have two garage doors?
A: The camera is wide-angle enough for a double car door.
Q: Is there a fee charge for the cloud storage?
A: Yes, $30 a year for 7 day storage. Thee is a month storage too but it costs more.
A: It plugs in, not battery. I have mine magnetic attached to closer on the bottom and plugged in the ceiling outlet with the closer.
Q: Do you have to have Wi-Fi to work the camera
A: Yes. It connects to your WiFi network in order to download and store the recordings. You also need WiFi to operate the MyQ app. Just cell is not enough.
