PC for Father, replaces aging WinXP PC
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This machine was purchased as a replacement for my father's aging Windows XP machine. He wanted to make sure it had at least two optical drive bays, and I wanted to get one that had a camera card reader to make things easier for him. After installing an additional 3rd party optical SATA DVD drive, it was all set. The machine has an AMD processor which makes it more economical in price, but it's comparable to some Intel i5 chips which is a decently speedy processor. The amount of RAM and HDD space is a little overkill for what my father will be using it for, but it's an excellent machine at a great price for what it will be used for. It's also a nice size - not too large, but not super tiny and/or cramped on the inside (which would have made it difficult to add the optical drive). The only tricky parts about adding the optical drive was the frontplate plastic cover which had plastic release locks and then just opened like a door (and slipped off) [took a little bit of time to figure it out], and the metal spacer/block for where the optical drive needed to be added. It actually needed to be bent/broken off instead of released in some manner. This could be a problem if the metal hinge didn't break in the right spot, preventing proper access for the drive to slide in; thankfully mine had no issue...otherwise I'd have had to get a file, or a ballpin hammer, or something to get that tiny piece of metal out of the way. Overall I'm highly satisfied with this machine and the purchase.
