IMHO
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This isn't a review where you'll read the item can't compare with something that costs umpteen dollars more. When I read that I think "so why didn't you BUY the other item and pay more, instead of complain? This item is just what I wanted...it's a step up from the one that was $5 less...which I bought five years ago and still works! I screwed up the latch on the one I had and for a $20 item to last five years...it's fully depreciated in my eyes. My new CD+ Player Sounds good...plays my CDs, the two FM stations I listen to come across static free. I was able to program the presets. I'm satisfied with the headset. It does what I want it to do. The biggest complaint I see is people who can't play their full audio books stuff....which isn't the CD Player's fault. The people who make the Audiobooks want you to buy a more expensive proprietary player...maybe?

For the price, it is very good.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Insignia portable CD player to allow me to quickly listen to some music on cd’s when I don’t want to take the time to turn on the various audio equipment I have to accomplish the same task or bother others in the house with my music. It is easy to use, has the helpful feature of an anti-skip buffer and can be battery-operated. The sound is what I expected through the headphones (an approximately $150 set from Senneheiser), meaning it was good on most recordings. Turning the volume more than halfway on the CD player caused the expected audible distortion, mainly in the bass. Poor cd recordings sounded poorly as one would expect, too. Good cd recordings usually were ok unless you turned the volume up too far, as stated earlier. It is definitely worth the $20 price I paid for it. It has played every cd that I have tried without any problems. One complaint is that it is a “battery eater”, especially so with the anti-skip buffer enacted. But, if you read the accompanying information, it lets one know that bit of information. Again, for the price, I have no problems recommending it.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Insignia portable CD player works very well for me. Has a good sound and easy to transport. Only drawback is it uses batteries up very fast, so if use it to travel, I need to take extra batteries.

Sound options and settings are great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This CD player has multiple sound settings and options that don't usually come with a portable CD player. Even at higher volume levels the sound does not break up. It's fantastic. I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys good sound, a sturdy product and a fantastic price.

Good portable player for the money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.CD players seem to be going extinct so I’m glad Best Buy still had this portable one in stock. My wife’s new car doesn’t have a built in CD player like most new cars these days so this was a good solution for her to be able to listen to her collection. Good sound and decent battery life without skipping!

Good CD player for car without a CD player
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for a 2016 RAV4 vehicle I purchased that did not have a CD player. Listened to books on CD while traveling out of state for hours at a time. Good sound quality and operation; no mechanical failures. Possible negative is going thru 2 AA batteries at intervals to power it.

Q: Questionwhat is SKIP PROTECTION, and what do 240 seconds and 480 seconds tell me.Insignia CD/MP3 Player Digital FM Tuner NS-P5113 What is SKIP PROTECTION, and what do 240 seconds and 480 seconds tell me?
Asked by Leo C..
- A:Answer The Insignia NS-P5113 |SKU:9139826 Portable CD Player’s anti-skip electronic shock protection (ESP) system prevents this unit’s laser beam pickup from skipping or missing parts of a song during active use. Active use includes activities such as walking, jogging, running, or exercising while holding the portable player in hand. The Insignia CD player will also be subject to excessive vibration if it is used in a moving vehicle. Under normal circumstances, a CD player’s optical pick-up mechanism would be unable to focus on continuously reading the playback disc during active use for enjoyment of your favorite songs. However, the Insignia CD Player incorporates an automatic electronic buffer system that allows it to store up to 240 seconds of music on an audio CD or 480 seconds of music on an MP3 disc into memory so that the Insignia portable does not skip portions of a track while the user is engaged in active use while carrying the CD player. The buffer time of 240 or 480 seconds allows the CD player enough time in most instances of active use to recover playback of the disc should it experience an unexpected violent movement that would normally cause disruption or stoppage of disc playback. Please note that electronic shock protection is not needed if the Insignia CD player is used during a non-active use such as listening to the unit on your sofa at home. You can disable the ESP for audio CD’s when appropriate, but not for MP3 discs. This unit’s FM tuner is not affected by the built-in anti-shock protection system. Good Luck.

Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer No, portable CD players do not have built-in speakers. However, you can always buy a speaker or pair of speakers and plug it/them into the headphone jack, just make sure whatever you by has the standard (or smaller) jack, which I believe is 3.5mm.
