Fun for the kids, fun for the adults

This is a 22 minute long episode of the Lego Star Wars animated specials that aired on Cartoon Network. This is the second of two specials, the first being the Padawan Menace. You do not have to have seen Padawan Menace to understand this special, as it stands on its own. The pattern of kid-friendly silliness and subtle in-jokes & satire for adults is present in both titles. Similar in tone to the mega-popular Lego Star Wars video games, its irreverence towards Star Wars is readily apparent, such as Darth Maul's six-bladed lightsaber, and teenage fans chasing Luke Skywalker because he’s “so dreamy and cute”, never get old. As a Star Wars fan, I watched it with my kids and we all loved it! Featuring all of your favorite characters, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, R2-D2, C-3PO, Darth Maul, Darth Vader and The Emperor, the jokes fly non-stop. Written by Michael Price (The Simpsons#, this is an entertaining and engaging show. There is no other content available on this DVD other than the special itself. This is a real disappointment, as Padawan Menace came with a plethora of bonus features and extras. It is also not available on Blu-ray, which is also disappointing, as the animation is very well done. But the exclusive Lego figure of Darth Vader with a Rebellion medal around his neck is a nice extra to be included. #There's a story there as to why that particular figure is included, you'll find out why in the special itself.) Lego Star Wars has proven popular enough that there is a three-part mini-series of specials subtitled The Yoda Chronicles airing on Cartoon Network through the rest of 2013. The first one already aired in May 2013, with specials two and three airing later this year. No doubt, these will eventually be released on DVD by the end of 2013/early 2014.

If you love Star Wars, love LEGO's, and especially love Star Wars LEGO's, then this DVD is for you! That being said, it is only 22 minutes long, so not nearly long enough. It also is only available on DVD, unlike LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace, which was on Blu-ray and DVD. But it's very cute, and extremely enjoyable. It also brings back several original Star Wars actors (and Clone Wars cartoon voice actors), voicing their original roles: Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Kenneth Colley (Admiral Piett), Brian Blessed (Boss Nass), Julian Glover (General Veers), Ahmed Best (Jar Jar Binks), Andrew Secombe (Watto), Tom Kane (Narrator, Yoda), and Sam Witwer (Darth Maul). This title is fairly inexpensive, and comes with a LEGO Darth Vader figure. For fans, I highly recommend it!

I bought this for my two little girls (3 and 5) who want to get in on all the excitement of Star Wars they see from me (movies, Legos, shirts, Force Awakens trailers) but are still too young to enjoy the original trilogy. These Star Wars Lego movies are short, simple and easy enough for them to enjoy and introduces them to all the characters. The "Legos" part makes it fun and at 22 minutes, the movie contains a simple story without the serialization in other Star Wars cartoon series (i.e. Clone Wars, Rebels).

    Minifigure NOT Included

My son ordered this DVD solely for the Darth Vader minifigure. He was so disappointed when the DVD arrived in the mail with NO minifigure. I called 2 local Best Buy stores and the customer service reps did NOTHING to help my 10 year old son, even though the picture on their website clearly shows the DVD WITH the minifigure. I will never be shopping with Best Buy again, and I will make sure to spread the word to shop elsewhere.

My son (9) chose this video because he is both a Star Wars and LEGO fan. He and his younger brother are both very happy with it. It's humorous, has a good pace, and draws from the Star Wars movies. As a parent, I appreciate the better writing, plot and sub-plots, and lack of profanity and graphic violence. The Darth Vader figurine is a big added bonus as he has other LEGO Star Wars characters.

2 yr. old that really enjoys Lego Star Wars and enjoyed watching this. Nothing too scary or violent. And we both enjoyed watching it together. Sarcastic humor in these movies will be appreciated by the adults with laughs! Not sure how older children will take it.

Even though the cartoon was under a half hour it was enjoyable. More of a comical episode than most of the lego star wars stuff. Plus it came with a Darth Vader minfig that are not too easy to get by themselves. Picked it up on sale, so at $10 it was a good value.

My son and I had watched Padawan Menace and enjoyed it -- even my wife chuckled here and there. So when I saw this I had to have it. It's great fun, and Lego Darth Maul really steals the show. My son asked to watch this one over and over.
