The next level in gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like this handheld system. Disappointed about of the removal GBA slot. However, it is a small price to pay for a great system like this. Cameras are fun to play with and the music player has great sound quality.

I love my DSi /DS both!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well I broke down and bought the new DSi I love it! over all I was told that the DSi wouldn't fit in my DS case ...when it does My case has a strap and I like that but, the DSi case doesn't come with a strap To me I'm glad the nice DS case fits both the DS/DSi ..here is pictures to prove it. And if you have kids they will want the strap so they won't drop it as easy.

Solid, Compact, Good Battery Life, Feature packed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a difficult time deciding between the DSi and the DS lite due to the price difference. My purpose was to use a DS (or DSi) as a supplemental language study tool and low cost alternative to the more expensive Electronic Dictionaries that range from $450-$600. In the end, I decided upon the DSi for its SD card slot and because of Wi Fi web connect. I also bought "My Japanese Coach" to supplement the college textbooks I'm currently using (as "MJC" has a decent J>E E>J dictionary). Buyers' remorse is a common thing with any purchase and this quickly faded as I continue to find Japanese sites with applications and games that turn this little toy into a very versatile tool. I purchased a 4GB SD card and use this to store music and audio language files in AAC format. The system will store and list 3000 audio files (or 1000 folders) in addition to 3000 photos. Sound quality is surprisingly good from such small speakers and standard earphones work great. With the Nintendo DSi w/ "My Japanese Coach" and a language card available only from Japan (name: "Rakubiki Jiten") and its web connect, I am transforming my DSi into a learning and travel tool. Scenario: Downtown Tokyo (or even your local Japanese restaurant) 1) Take a photo of a sign or word and 'Save' 2) if you know the pronunciation, enter into "MJC" reference OR if it's all in all KANJI characters, WRITE the character and 'enter'. Voila! a list of words with the option to enter an attending character with definitions! Thank God for touch screen technology! Scenario: Bored while at Wi Fi Coffee Shop 1) Open OPERA Browser (Free from Nintendo for DSi) and connect 2) Check E~mail, stocks, favorite web sites, etc. Game Play: As an adult, I thought I had outgrown the need for games beyond my PC collection. I was wrong. Game play is easy with DSi interface and a welcome break from the learning tools described. Miscellany: The Nintendo DSi is still new yet has great potential as a very versatile mobile gadget. As the unit evolves, system upgrades will be in the form of online softwareand firmware updates to expand its current functions. Nintendo is already developing exclusive applications and games for download from the Nintendo Store. Summary: It's small, well made with long battery life and a heck of a lot of fun. It fits easily in my pocket and fills the space between my cell phone and laptop. As an all around game system, Nintendo has added more processing power and system memory (133 MHz and 256 MB respectively). Game play and load times are fast, web surfing included. As a tool to be used in the manner I've described, I wish this had been available a year ago. I feel that you as a potential owner will find the DSi to fill your expectations and over time, you'll find more uses for it .

DSI
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased 3 at 12:00am Sunday morning, and we have not put it down since we got it. The sound is much louder, the camara is clear then I thought it would be, you can send the pictures to anyone within a certain radius. It records your voice and you have diffrent pitches that you can change you recording to be high low or somewhere in between. Also, you do lose the GB slot (which in the old ds my kids did not use because it defeated the purpose of having a touch screen game they never picked up the GB games ) but you have to think you are getting a camara, voice recorder, internet. In addition when you register your DSI using the Wi-fi by 10/5/2009 you will be given 1000 points to use to download games to your DSI. Over all its a great game, glad I stood in line and got mine

I carry my DSi with me EVERYWHERE I go!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I begged my fiance for a DSi for months after it released. Nintendo really knows how to please the masses with their platforms. The DS lite was great, and the DSi is just that much better, and for only $40 more. The dual camera option is great, and I love playing with the different options of color and stamps to create fun little snapshots. One thing I haven't seen advertised ANYWHERE is the connectivity to Facebook. I can post photos straight to my Facebook account, as long as I have a Wi-Fi connection, and my friends really get a kick out of it. The internet browsing is slow and doesn't always work, but this little guy is aimed at kids, so I can understand why it doesn't need to be fantastic. If I had kids, I would really be sold on the parental control options. You can limit what is viewed on the internet, limit the sending of photos, and the best part, limit ESRB ratings. So if your kid goes to someone elses house and borrows a game which you don't think is appropriate, the DSi locks itself and can only be bypassed by a security code (which you can do in the initial set up). I love the option for an SD card, and so far I've noticed you don't HAVE to buy Nintendo's special white SD made for the DSi or the Wii, I use an old one from my camera, plus the same size card is available in the camera section for cheaper. When it came down to a handheld (being a huge gamer) there was no contest between PSP and the DSi. Yes the PSP has much better graphics and internet connectivity, but you buy it to play games, and a handful is all you're going to have to chose from in any store. The DS games in my local Best Buy takes up an entire aisle, whereas the PSP games have a short 4 ft. section. I've also noticed that most PSP games are adult oriented with very few children/family/something different choices (just like the PS3 games). So far I have a wonderful exercise program, a cooking program that hasn't failed me yet, and the classic Zelda. Three things that don't even exist for the PSP. So far, the only thing that has me perplexed and annoyed is that fact that it's almost impossible to find a data transfer cable. The DSi can play music like an MP3 player, but so far the only way I can see to get music on there is to put some MP3's on my SD card...something that's impossible because I don't have a memory card slot on my laptop, and no other way to move music onto it. I must admit, the music option was a big selling point for me, but I'm not in the least bit upset, nor do I even notice, I'm too busy playing.

What an upgrade to the DS Lite!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The DSi is a great upgrade to the DS Lite. - First off, the cameras have amazing quality for such a low megapixel. When you first get it, perform a system update which will allow you to upload the picture straight to your facebook account. It is much easier than downloading pictures to you computer then onto facebook. - Next, the music player is great. Just make sure that you convert your music to aac format. The easiest way that I found was to use iTunes. - The speakers are greatly improved. The Volume is much higher and the quality is much better than the DS Lite. I have never heard Mario Kart Ds like I have on the DSi. -The .25 inch screen addition really does add to gameplay in a game like Mario Kart Ds. You really do notice the difference. -The DSi shop is great. Flipnote studio is really fun and free. Just make sure to get your DSi before October 5 to get 1000 free points. I downloaded Mario vs Donkey Kong and it is really fun. I am looking into getting Dr Mario and Wario Ware. The internet browser is amazing. Much better than the Wii browser. - All in all, the DSi is a great game console and even tops the DS Lite (I have the blue DS lite too). I love my blue DSi. I am so glad that I baught it as a Birthday gift to me. So go ahead, get it, you will not regret it!
