Q: QuestionDoes it come with a transmitter, or, must one be purchased separately?The Best Buy description of the product implies that a chest strap is not included, and, does not recommend that a separate transmitter (eg. FT7, HT7) must also be purchased to obtain full functionality.

- A:Answer FT7 is suitable for swimming and it is water resistant as long as buttons are not pressed under water. FT7 uses GymLink frequency, which can transmit signals also in water. When measuring heart rate in water, you may experience interference because: The ECG signal strength is individual and may vary depending on the your tissue composition. Problems occur more frequently when measuring heart rate in water than when measuring is done on land. Pool water with high chlorine content and seawater are very conductive. Sensor electrodes can short-circuit in these conditions preventing ECG signal detection. Jumping into water or strenuous muscle movement during competitive swimming may shift the sensor on your body where ECG signals aren't detected. If you swim in salt water or highly chlorinated water, or have repeated challenges measuring heart rate for swimming, consider using the T31c heart rate sensor.e

Q: QuestionDoes this monitor work for swimming?I swim during my workouts and would love to have a monitor that gave me my fullworkout results. I see the watch is waterproof. How about the strap? Does it function under water for normal swimming? If not, please recommend a Polar model that does function under water.

- A:Answer No, the chest strap that comes with the FT7 does not communicate on Bluetooth. You do have an option of securing the 'H7' heart rate sensor as a separate accessory and use it with both the FT7 watch and a app running at the same time on your phone - Mike @ Polar USA

If you want the ability to customize the display where the time of day is visible all the time with the heart rate, then I would recommend the M400.
