[I realize this is an old question at this point] Using an optical cable won't let you experience the full function of the Dolby Atmos feature on that LG soundbar. You need 2 High-Speed HDMI cables. One HDMI cable goes from the DirecTv box (if you have one) to the soundbar input HDMI port, and the second HDMI cable goes from the soundbar output HDMI port to the HDMI port on the back of your tv that is specifically labeled as "ARC." If you don't have the DirecTv box then you just need one High-Speed HDMI cable instead of two. Sometimes the ARC function is a little finicky between different brands, so if you hear any audio errors while watching content FROM your tv (not from the DirecTv box) then you might want to consider changing to a Sony soundbar.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Do u have a way to hook up an optical cord if u do then when u hook that up to the tv and when u turn ur tv onn and off the optical cord will turn the sound bar onn and off
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have tried it with an optical cord and HDMI cord. Tried going through the Arc and HDMI. I get no volume through the soundbar. Starting to think the soundbar may be defective.
