Yes, you do have to make a appointment for installeation. The installer is AWESOME!!!! He helped us get the right set up in my son's car and was so incredibly honest!!!! The length of time depends on the make of yourcar and if that's the only item you are installing. Just a great experience at the Beat Buy in Heath, Ohio!!!
