“What is the meaning of the size (27 inch) for the kit. Does that cover a 27 inch opening? How do you determine the height? I have a PES7227sl1ss microwave. The cavity opening is 28 1/2 by 16 3/4. Do I need a 30" kit?”

Kit design is poor. It is too big for a normal 27" hole. You have to make modifications!!!!!! Exact dimentions should be given in GE's site.

Countertop Sensor Microwave Oven PES7227SLSS is intended for countertop use and not compatible with a trim kit. The built- in model is GE Profile™ Series 2.2 Cu. Ft. Built-In Sensor Microwave Oven PEB7227SLSS. It is compatible with GE® Required 27" Built-In Trim Kit JX7227SLSS and GE® Required 30" Built-In Trim Kit JX7230SLSS. 27" and 30" is the cabinet width (not cutout). The only difference between the 27" and 30" trim kit is the trim frame width. If the microwave is installed over a 27" or 30" wall oven, be sure to match the trim kit width to the oven.
