It is very unlikely that this warranty covers electrical shorts caused by the HOMES electrical system, If you are very lucky your home insurance may cover it.

Extended warranty would cover defects or performance failure strictly related to the working of the refrigerator. Power surges are not covered under the manufacturer's warranty.
