To use the ROKU features you must have internet service. I have read in these questions that this TV can also work with Over-The-Air TV channels. For that you need the right antenna for wherever you live. In a major city usually a Mohu Leaf antenna can get you a lot of free OTA channels that cost nothing and don't need more than the air (and for the TV to be plugged in and turned on). That's OTA. But for the Roku features to work, and to have all the possible streaming channels work, you must have internet service.
