The article you linked to says "MAY" not pass DD5.1, it depends on the manufacturer and combo of equipment. I tried it with this Samsung and a Visio LCD TV with ARC support, and it didn't work. But you have a Samsung TV and they will probably work well together, by that is not a guarantee. In this case, buy it and try it, if it doesn't work, optical will, or you can just return the unit. I would recommend NOT removing all of that stupid plastic wrapping on the Samsung if you might return it.
