The game supports that joystick. It's a defined option in the controller settings. You cannot use the joystick in VR mode, though. I bought it for VR and was sorely disappointed to have to use a DualShock controller. It only works in standard mode. The joystick also supports PC video games, so you can use it for flight sims, and flying games as well.

If you are planning to play this game constantly, even if you finished the campaign mode, I would recommend, but I think PS4 dual shock controller is still enough to enjoy the game from my ace combat 7 experience.
