“Is the power cord supposed to be two pieces? one to computer and one to outlet, connected by the adapter? Reason im asking it looks like im missing a cord for the power supply because the adapter has a 3 holed that doesn't have a cord to plug into wall.”

Yes, the monitor power cord comes in 2 parts: a thinner cord attached to monitor and adapter, and a second 3-pronged female cord which attaches to the adapter and power source. The secondary cord connects monitor to PC.
