I think what you may be looking for is the glare factor. This monitor has somewhat of a matte finish, but more to the point, it has a nice anti-glare finish that provides great viewing quality even in bright light. I have a floor lamp next to my desk, and the lamp does not reflect in the monitor and bounce back into my face. Is that what you were asking?

It looks more matte to my eyes. it's a great inexpensive monitor, works well for what it is.

The screen itself is glossy. If the monitor were turned off and you were to sit in front of it in a well lit room, you can see a clear reflection of yourself in it.
