I questioned Best Buy over the phone and live chat about the same issue. However, I will say that the refurbished model does come up for sale from time-to-time. You just have to monitor the listing daily and jump on it as soon as it's available. Check Best Buy's eBay page as well. I was finally able to buy one near the end of January. It was worth the effort and wait.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Probably just to keep the page active for when a monitor is returned for whatever reson and then made available as a refurbished model. If you really want the monitor try going into your local Best Buy every once and a while and you might get lucky
