the transmitter gets connected to the device that you want to transmit the signal. So use an HDMI cable from the Dish box to the transmitter, then another cable from the transmitter to the TV. Then use a third cable and connect the receiver directly to the back of the destination TV. After the HDMI cables are all connected, now is the time to plug in the power to the transmitter. Wait a couple minutes for it to boot up. Then plug the power into the receiver unit and wait a couple additional minutes for it to pair. This unit actually gave me trouble. Once I had it all connected I had to power off the Dish box and then power it back on. Then the picture showed up on the destination TV but there was no audio. I then discovered I had to change the channel on the Dish box and then both the picture AND audio finally worked. This is certainly a finicky device to use but once you get it going it should work fine.
