Are you able to turn the channels on the receiving tv? We hooked up this system - but we cannot turn the channel on the receiving tv. Is this how it is supposed to work? We understood it would control everything on the receiver.

The device only transmits and receives HDMI signals. It does not in itself change channels on either of the transmitting box or the receiving TV. There is an included IR transmitter and receiver that will make your existing remote control work at the remote TV if positioned and installed correctly

The device is able to control the second tv with your real cable remote. But you do have to make sure you have the IR piece in the right spot on/ in front of/ your cable box. That's what reads it. But it still can have a lag and can get frustrating if everything is not in place just right. I hope this helps.

Yes, the starter kit comes with an infrared sensor that will transmit the remote signal to where the cable box is hooked up.
