• Get your self an HDMI port switcher. DVD Player's HDMI cable and the cable box's HDMI cable will go in as input to the switcher and the output HDMI port is connected to the TV. I have installed 3X1 that connects my cable settop box, my Sony BluRay Player and by Google Chromcast to one common TV. That product has provided a nifty remote to switch the sources.

• A receiver. Nothing super expensive but one that will accept the cables. Grab a center channel speaker to start.
