Based on my understanding, the TV calibration is not really based on SD, HD, Dolby Vision. Based on my understanding and experience, one main purpose for the Geek Squad TV calibration is to make sure your TV settings, like white balance, are set as close as possible to the recommended industry standards for your type of TV. Once your TV has been calibrated to the standard recommendation, then other settings can be adjusted by the customer to their own personal viewing preferences and program materials. For example, I recently had my TV calibrated, and the key was to make sure the white balance is set correctly based on the TV industry standards; i.g. the core settings of your TV are set as good as possible for your TV. Therefore, after calibration, you do not want to make changes or adjustments that would impact the newly calibrated base settings. Plus, it is a good idea to record or document what the base settings are for your newly calibrated TV. Now, as I watch different types of programs, the images may be different based on the quality and format of the TV program. Therefore, I have adjusted the "color" setting (not TINT) to the way I like the color to look. For example, I don't like the skin tone for people to be too warm or orange, so I adjusted the color down to make skin tones less orange or red like. Plus, I usually watch TV in a dark room; therefore I usually turn down brightness.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The calibration that is performed by Geek Squad is done on only 1 picture setting. My Samsung has 4 picture options Natural, Movie, Dynamic and Standard. The only option they make adjustments to is Movie. This is per the Tech from Geek Squad that calibrated mine. It's the only one that he said "Get's you the closest to what the original movie was shot at". So if you are looking for just movies to have the more Cinema looking picture, not really a large difference, then get the calibration. You can actually do a lot of the same things on your on through a Youtube .com tutorial on calibration for free. So just to sum it all up. If you watch TV in any other mode other than Movie, then you will not benefit from the Geek Squad Calibration service.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The TV will be calibrated for day and for night that is for a light room and then a dark room, all of the parameters you are referring to fall directly in line.
