If your tv doesnt have a 3.5 jack you will need a digital audio converter thats how i have my tv

No, you cannot use this transmitter with an optical audio out connection (but you can use the MEE BT transmitter that offers that option & even comes with all 3 options' cables for connecting to the TV).
