I believe you own the updated version. Like the first 3rd gen echo dot had no clock but a new was released late last with with an LED light that displays the time. Very handy tho.

The deal for two echo dot devices does not have the clock display on the side 

The dot devices with clock display were not included in the promotional price.

No the 3rd gen device doesn't come with the click on the side however you can be a version of echo dot with ditital clock in the side for a little more higher price
