I want to buy this for a gift for someone. They don't have wifi but they have Hotspot. Will this still work? null

They would have to have the hotspot on at all times. To install the echo you need to download the amazon alexa app to complete installation or do from a computer. As long as you have the wifi and password for the hotspot it should work.

I have never used a HotSpot with it but it makes sense that it would work. You still have to use the Alexa app to connect it and that’s where it will look up your internet connection.

yes as soon as you have any kind of wireless connection, it works

I think it will but they would have to connect it over and over 

So I imagine it would start to get annoying
