I have 2 hooked up but I know they support each other good. I would try & get warranty so you could return them if they don’t do what you want!

no you can just say hey alexa send a message to all the other echo dots and it will say what ever you say

Hello, 
As long as there is a good wifi signal, you could. then you could announce to all of the devices at once, you could drop in to the other devices and use like an intercom. You do not need a hub. They can all work independently, and through routines and multi room music features they could all work together. Hope that helps.
