They use Wi-Fi to communicate so if they are on the same network it should work.

I have them all over my house and they work just fine. I believe they connect via the internet, so in theory you could have them anywhere you'd like as long as there is an internet connection. I have one in my basement and it communicates just fine with my Echo Dot on the second floor.

As long as they are connected to the internet your garage could be 500 miles away and they would connect
