You could...But I hope you're on an unlimited data plan (even if you only have your hotspot up for 3-5 days). The E-Dot will still work with an intermittent connection.

Kind of defeats the purpose of having the system if you constantly need to connect to a hotspot. Not good option.

My husband uses his phone's hotspot to connect while driving and it works great. It may take a bit to connect but be patient and if you need help try YouTube.

Yes, the Echo Dot can connect to your cell phone's hotspot. I've done it before on a family trip in our vehicle. It works fine as long as you have cell phone reception.
