“My mother-in-law has a landline and a flip phone type cell phone. If we get her an echo show, can she call people on it? Or would she need to have a smart phone in order to do that? She does have Internet in our house.”

As long a sa it is hooked up to internet you can tell it the number to dial. To use the contacts on the phone it needs bluetooth
