“I was thinking of buying two of these are they returnable up to Jan 12th, I just wanted to make sure since they are gifts for two different people and they will need to be activated. I just wanted to make sure since the return policy isn't really clear.”

Per the holiday extended return policy, it looks like they would have until 1/12/19 to make the return. I would say give a call to local store just to be sure.
