• Hi Bettlejuice, I am confused a little by this question. Echo show only operates off of Wifi (which is provided by your internet connection into your home). You will always need it to be connected to a power supply as well as a stable Wifi connection to perform at its best. Some Wifi solutions such as a hot spot are not powerful or stable enough and may give a bad user experience, so it is not recommended. Hope this info is helpful. Have a great day.

• Wifi is internet. If you mean ethernet cord, no you do not need an ethernet cord. If you have wifi internet in your home, then it will connect to the internet.
