Technically you don't need an Amazon account to use it. Most features are linked to wifi or a cell phone if you want to use it to make calls. We have the Show in one room and Dots in others. They need to be synced through wifi to work together.

There is no fee to have an Amazon account, you just need an email address. If they are connected to your account, they would have access through the device to your account information (for example, if they were to purchase a movie through a streaming service, it would use your card on file). They can definitely have a Show upstairs and a Dot in the basement. You can have as many devices as you wish in whatever rooms you wish as long as they have access to WiFi.
