As long as you purchase a pen for it, it would be just fine. My 9 year old uses his tablet for the same things.

The new generation has 3 GB of RAM (50% more than previous generation), a 10% brighter screen with more than 2 million pixels, a 5 MP rear camera, and expandable storage to 1 TB. The new tablet is 10% thinner and lighter than the previous generation, too! Another benefit is that the screen has been strengthened with aluminosilicate glass!
