“Does this work well for downloading books to read away from home”

• Hi hemikid! The Fire HD 10 has the Kindle app built in, and works great for reading on the go! I use my Fire Tablet a lot for comics, which look great on the 10.1" screen. I tend to borrow a lot of books digitally either from my library with Libby or Kindle Unlimited. I hope that helps, have a great rest of your day!

• yes i have kindle unlimited it's like $12 monthly and once you download your book on wifi which is super quick you can read it anywhere without wifi
