There should not be a monthly fee once you have purchased the kindle fire HD. I happen to have the kindle fire HD and unless you purchased the Kindle fire through under a payment plan, there should be no additional monthly charges.

No, there is no fee, unless you are wanting to be connected to the internet continuously, then I would assume that through a carrier such as Sprint, Verizon, At&t, etc. you may have a monthly fee. My son utilizes his device at home, at the library, or other places where WiFi is free and available.

No, I use WiFi to get on the internet. If u don't have WiFi u should buy the wireless internet component and that comes with a monthly fee

I think everyone's missing the point...

IF you want to read FREE books from Kindle, THEN there's a fee.

You can be a Prime member, which includes free 2 day shipping on anything Amazon sells. Its over $100 year now, but you also get a ton of free movies and TV shows you can watch. Overall, a darn good deal! :-D Or you can join Kindle Unlimited (monthly fee) and read all the Kindle books you want. I think Prime membership works to be a MUCH better deal.
