How do you close apps running in the background? All of the articles I see online say Settings, Apps, Manage all apps. I do not see the option to Manage all apps. null

In the bottom of the screen you will see 3 icons, back arrow, circle for home and a square. Tap the square and then swipe all the tabs away.

From setting click apps and notifications, click SEE ALL # APPS in the middle to open a list of all apps, then click open any individual app you want work with. For preinstalled apps from FACTORY you are not able to uninstall, but you have choice to DISABLE or FORCE STOP. That will prevent them running in the background. 

I did this on all my three Fire tablets and it made significant difference. The battery lasted longer for each charge and running a bit fast and reduced tablet heating up. Hope you can achieve the same.
